Product Description

Discrete Drums Heavy Mental 1 Pro Set is a drum sample collection of recordings by drummer Tony Morra. You get 15 GB of content - 16 sessions at a variety of tempos. Styles include metal, hard rock and alternative. Sessions are divided into parts including verse, chorus, bridge, intros, outros, fills, solos, breaks, and more. Discrete Drums Pro Sets are recordings of pro drummers in multitrack 24-bit WAV and pre-mixed 16 Bit 44.1 stereo formats for use with most recording software products that import WAV files, including Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Cubase, Sonar, Logic, Reason, Recycle, Live, Acid and more. Drum loop formats in this product include multitrack 24-bit wav files with Pro Tools Sessions, stereo 16-bit (Apple Loops and WAV), one-shot samples, and audio previews for easy auditioning. Multitrack 24-bit WAV drum recordings offer the most flexible mixing possibilities, as all tracks are delivered separately. Eight tracks of drums to mix, process and tune the way you want to fit your track. Mix, process, tune, distort, and mangle these drum and percussion tracks to suit your needs. Pre-mixed 16-bit 44.1 stereo drum loops allow you to build the drum track you want from amazing performances. More than typical drum loops, which are usually 2 bars long, you get song segments ranging from 2 beat intros, to 16 bar verses, choruses, bridges, and more.

Sonoma Wire Works DDHM1PRO Discrete Drums Heavy Mental 1 Pro Set Review

Discrete Drums was the first to get it right...The Heavy Mental 1 Pro Set will not disappoint. Multi-track drums are what make a song sound. That said, Heavy Mental 1 Pro Set is recorded by a professional drummer (Tony Morra) at The Sound Kitchen recording studio. The sections are recorded as sessions (I call them songs) at a given tempo and broken down into intros, verses, chorus, bridges, fills, outros, etc. at various tempos. Some are 1 measure, 2 measures, 4 measures all recorded as multi-track 24-bit WAV files. With the multi-track set (also included are Stereo 16 Bit - Apple Loops and WAVs premixed 16 Bit 44.1kHz to stereo, One Shot Samples and Audio Previews for Easy Auditioning) you have separate kick, snare, hat, stereo toms, overheads, room to set the volumes of each drum and process with whatever effect you desire without affecting the adjacent drums. You just CAN'T do that with stereo .wav files. I've been a Discrete Drum user before Sonoma Wire Works purchased them. I originally purchased them for my Roland VS2480CD in a format made especially for Roland DAWs. When I switched over to a Windows based DAW, I searched high and low for other multi-track drums. I purchased multi-track libraries from ESoundz Drum Masters2, Ocean Way Drums and some of the Epic Drums. All of them sounded excellent but when it came to the loops, many fell short. I'm not a loop maker and the availability of multi-track loops to purchase was scare. So for me, I still felt unfulfilled. Others offered quasi multi-track in a sub mix mode (Sonoma's Drum Core, which I own in my quest). They did allow the user to somewhat control the mix but they were still stereo 2 track files that you couldn't sub mix if needed on my DAW.
I've come back home to Discrete Drums. They work perfectly with Sonar X1 Producer Edition and now I just upgraded to Sonar X2 PE and they are so cool! (Note: they also work as .wav files on other DAWs, this is what I use) The sections fly in from the DVD with the greatest of ease! and the loops in the tracks are clearly labeled (verse1, chorus 3)so it's easy to cut and paste around the song your recording. You may change them after you finish should you decide a tom fill might sound good at the end of chorus 1 into verse 3. Going from a tempo (124) to (118) is easy as well. The Heavy Mental 1 Pro Set gives you 16 songs (sessions) of multi-track drums recorded at various tempos. You can mix and match songs (sessions) if desired. If you can't get a great sounding drum track with these DVD sets, then all I can say is to look for a good day job!

Sonor Force 1007 Stage 1 Black Five Piece Drumset Review

I got this kit because I'm a starting out drummer, and I want to play metal/Death Metal. Being in a band for a long period of time, I knew that Sonor would provide for my needs for drumming for any type of metal. I got this kit as a shell kit, off of Ebay," Dales Drum Shop," everyone there was really nice, and helpful. My item arrived quickly too. I'm still getting the stands and stuff for it. The stock heads aren't bad, but I'm going to have to replace them for Evans, to get the metal sound I need. The bass drum head I may not even have to replace, I'm not sure, yet though. I know for a fact this set will serve its purpose if you're wanting to play metal/death metal/rock/Jazz. The reason why I say Jazz, is because the stock heads sound a little more Jazzier, then rock. Overall, though, it's a good set.

Creating your very own piece of cinematic expression has never been easier. We feel you should have the best possible set of quality auditory options available to you at a price you can afford. It's that simple. Where our first five volumes looked to satisfy the tangible elements of the sound effects world-household items, vocals and wallas, animals, the elements-the next five move further into the intangible world of expert sound design. Explore the outer limits of science fiction, pick and choose from a variety of nail-biting horror soundscapes, or catapult your mind into the realm of the fantastic with hand-picked sonic elements from some of cinema's most imaginative films. We've fired up the wayback machine to bring you everything from Civil War era battle scenes to a choice selection of antique automobiles spanning four decades. We've also taken sound design to the next level by supplying you with a series of layer able, 5.1 surround sound explosions. Adjust each channel to your own satisfaction, boost the sub, or remove elements to get a stripped down quadraphonic sound. What's more, this booklet includes interviews with five of the industry's most prominent, influential sound design professionals, each one divulging tricks of the trade that helped put them where they are today. As the Sony Pictures repertoire grows, so will our collections, bringing you the most cutting edge effects, Foley, and sound design from some of the film world's most talented creators. The Sony Pictures Sound Effects Series is your master key to unlocking the full potential of your artistic vision-an indispensable tool for new filmmakers or seasoned professionals looking to add something really special to those cavernous audio vaults.

Sony Pictures Sound Effects Series Volumes 6-10 Review

"...As none of us have the time or the money to foley all of our own sound effects, this is a set that any filmmaker should take a look at, even if you don't think you're doing very effects-heavy films. Sound effects are not just for action films and slapstick comedies, but can also touch up a great love scene in a romantic drama or add the necessary impact to the flying fonts in a trailer. Plus, the sound design effects included in the later discs give you additional elements that you can weave into the story to give your audience the visceral feeling you want them to have..." -Jeremy Hanke, Microfilmmaker Magazine, Issue 17 (Feb/Mar '07), Final Score: 9.7/10
