Product Description

Many luthiers consider the combination of rosewood back and sides with a spruce top to be the standard that all other wood combinations are measured against. This combination allows for rich tones with ample dynamics and projection. Each Top is hand selected Solid Spruce grown in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. The back and sides are solid book matched Indian Rosewood, chosen for both its appearance and acoustic integrity. The ebony fingerboard is fitted with nickel silver frets, leveled and finished by hand for perfect playability and intonation. The soundhole and perimeter of the top are inlaid with hundreds of pieces of beautiful abalone shell, while Figured Maple and Padauk binds the body, beveled cutaway, fingerboard and headstock.

A very nice guitar and very versatile-- the deeper than typical body depth for an Auditorium-size guitar makes it suitable for strumming and flat-picking, as well as finger-picking, and results in good volume for a medium-sized guitar. Prestige Guitars is a Canadian company mostly known for their electric guitars. I had never heard of them before coming across these Eclipse acoustics. There is very good attention to detail in the design and build of these guitars.

I also like the Fishman Matrix Ellipse Blend Pickup System which is concealed just above the sound hole and is better than having a preamp mounted in an opening cut into the side of the guitar. The blend of an under-saddle pickup and a microphone results in nice natural acoustic sound.
