Product Description

The Voodoo-1 circuit is on the High Band and the Voodoo-Boost on the Low Band. This choice has been selected to provide open sounds from The Voodoo-Boost or the classic Voodoo-1 sounds featured by users Mike Landau. The Voodoo-Boost is a very interactive pedal with an amplifier and the TT combination provides the possibility of having a more open sound blended with a tight distortion. The Low and High Band circuit path channels have individual Drive and EQ controls that been optimized for the type of circuit being used. The resulting range of sounds available is truly immense as varying amounts and types of Processing and EQ can be applied to each channel or band and then mixed together. This is a technique we used in the studio with Jimi to get the required tone. Using various pedals in series or equalization will not accomplish this as processing is then applied sequentially and to the whole frequency range.

Roger Mayer Voodoo TT Dual Band HDD Guitar Effect Review

First of all it's great to see a vendor finally selling Roger Mayer in the US! I had great luck with the VooDoo 1 from 2002 until late 2007 when I lost it in a fire along with loads of other great gear including a Voodoo Vibe, and a Wah custom circuitry by Roger Mayer (which I miss dearly) and a 1984 US Fender Telecaster, etc... This pedal blends circuits from two of his previous pedals. There is a low band and a high band and you get to control the drive & eq for each, and then mix the output. Roger Mayer himself called me in May of 2010 to say this is what he is promoting because of its versatility! I'm not kidding, I couldn't make this up. Then he hooked me up with a distributor in New Jersey and badda-boom I had me this great pedal that suits me just fine.

I will leave it to others discuss the technology which is all very interesting including the 3 outputs. You can research pedals for months, but playing through one will give you the true test of whether or not the sound is good for you. I knew what I was getting with Roger Mayer. The man's reputation speaks for itself. This is not going to be as fuzzy or heavy or as shreddy as some like and if you're looking for the Hendixy sound then this may not be your pedal. You can get a lot of tried and true overdriven sounds for both rhythm and lead playing ala Cream with this pedal, very touch sensitive. You can also punch through the mix when you need to. It's the amount of precision with which you can dial in that makes this pedal so useful and fun. Go to YouTube and look up the Australian dude who tries out all the Roger Mayer pedals. That is very educational, and he's a great guy.

My electric equipment gear is mainly a Gretsch 6122JR (Country Classic circa 2001) or my Fender Custom Shop US Tele (No Caster) through a Fender amp with just this pedal in between - maybe the MXR Carbon Copy for some analog delay. Check out what works for you! You can't go wrong with Roger Mayer. These pedals are rare too so you should be able to resell it at almost full price if it's not your cup of tea. Cheers!
