Taylor Guitars 200 Series 210-E-G-L Deadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Left Handed - Natural Review

I spent a good four hours testing various acoustics in the $800 price range. Brands I looked at include Breedlove, Seagull, Takamine, Martin, Gibson, Yamaha, Fender and Taylor. I probably played 60 guitars total. The Taylor 210e was the best sounding and most playable guitar for the price. Curious of how the guitar played against higher end Taylors I picked up another model that was around $1,300 it was perhaps the most playable acoustic I ever touched, however the sound and character was not substantially better than the 210e. More expensive guitars certainly have nicer embellishments, inlays and detailing that make them truly works of art. However, if you are most interested in sound this guitar is fantastic.

The only qualm I had was that there was no built-in no tuner, it almost kept me from making the purchase. However, the friend I was with correctly pointed out that a clamp on tuner can be purchased for under $20. With that in mind I pulled the trigger. When I got the guitar home I was impressed that it projected a full range of sound in my living room. It is so many steps above my fender la brea acoustic (15+ years old) that I knew I made the right choice.

One other thing, of all the guitars I played the Taylor had by and far the best sound when plugged in. Takamine and Breedlove were a close second. Martin guitars in the same range had really crappy necks and not as good of sound. When it comes to playability and "art" higher end guitars are still the right thing, but for pure sound, this guitar is hands down the best buy.
