I did a tremendous amount of research before buying a saxophone, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase of the T901. Yanagisawa only makes saxophones,and they only make high quality saxophones--- no low level entry horns. Yanagisawa is known for shipping consistently well made horns to sellers, and the horns are known to require very little setup at the sellers shop, so these horns are better than most if you are going to purchase a saxophone without trying it out (over the internet).

These horns are said to play in tune over the full range of the sax, and I found that to be true with my horn (I tend to go a slightly sharp on high notes, but not too sharp, and I am a new saxophone player, so going a little sharp is likely due to my inexperience). My horn plays easily from top to bottom, so I am really impressed with this saxophone. The tone is great, and the horn feels great in your hands. The saxophone came in a high quality case.

I would recommend doing an internet search for sellers of new T901's, and then call some of these sellers and ask for their absolute best price. You should do this regardless of the brand of saxophone you are buying because most musical instrument manufacturers don't allow internet sellers to post their best price online. You are likely to save an additional 10%-15% off the prices that you are seeing online. Also, be sure to buy from someone known to setup the horns that they ship, even though Yanagisawa's need little set-up. My research lead me to conclude that many other brands of horns require a lot of set-up, even the other big names. Finally, buy from someone who will let you return it if you are not happy ---there are sellers who allow you to play the horn for a few days and then return it if the horn does not measure up.
