As with all models in this series, the Excursion Natural Folk SG features Canadian Wild Cherry Top, Back & Sides made of a 3-layer lamination of real hardwood. Seagull 38725 Excursion Nat Folk SG Acoustic Guitar Review

So I was in the market for a smaller acoustic guitar for a while. My dread that I had was a good guitar, I just have a bad shoulder and the size of the dread would make my pick hand fall asleep based on where my arm laid on the guitar. I looked into some folk and concert sized guitars. I played probably around 50 guitars including this one (it was one of the first I tried) over the course of a few weeks. I loved the feel and action of the guitar and the sound was amazingly good considering the price. I wanted a solid top though and this has a laminated top to it. I kept trying guitars in the 500 dollar price range anything from the 800 dollar Martins and Taylors to the 500 dollar Breedlove. I didn't want to venture to far above the $500 price tag so I was convinced on the Breedlove. I got to the store ready to by the Breedlove only to not be impressed by the action at all. I kept coming back to the Seagull. Needless to say I went back to my local (Not Big Chain) store and bought this guitar, and I love the guitar.
Enough of my story here are the pro's and con's on this guitar
Pro's
Great action out of the box
North American Made, not from over seas
Size is great for those who need a little smaller guitar than a Dread
Built in electronics are great for a guitar in this price range
Nice satin finish and fretboard is amazing
Tuners hold tune very well, but may change them in the future
Sound is really good except for one thing (See Cons)
Con's
3 piece lamination not solid top
The bass response is good for a guitar this size, but not great, I would say the sound is bright and really cuts through just not a lot over bass tones when playing chords.

Overall great value, great guitar, you should consider if you are in the market for a budget guitar!
