Use a pair of these to record a drum set in my studio. capture the sound well as overhead, building the stereo image of the set. I usually sum these two track in the overall drum recording scene (I use Shure Beta 98 AMP-C for Tons; Shure Beta 98 AD-C Miniature fro snare; Beta 91A for Bass Drum, and alternate a SM57 and another 181/C for hi-hats). I replaced two KSM 137 I used as overhead mics. The sound of the 181C is better balanced, brings more clarity and capture the sound of the set that will give the ambience to enhance the drum recording. At this price range is a great acquisition for any studio. It is small and conveniently disigned to be placed in format of amps, or in the middle of the drum set with ease. I must confess I have been a Shure fan for a long time, and was never let down. Haven't tried on other applications yet. As soon as I do I ail come back for an update.
