Bach 180S37 Stradivarius Bb TrumpetThese Bach trumpets are professional caliber, but my advice is to try new trumpets in person, rather than buying one through the Internet. I've owned 3 silver Stradivarius trumpets with the 72 bell over the years, and two had valve issues - they would require frequent cleaning & oiling, and would still stick at the most inopportune times. The one Strad I now have has perfect valves; lightning quick and they never stick. It's now my practice trumpet. You probably won't sense an issue with a given trumpet's valves at a store; but if you do, don't take a chance on that one.
The main thing I look for in a new trumpet is how it sounds. Each time I bought a Stradivarius, THAT was the sound I was looking for. But, my listening tastes changed after playing Strads for 45 years. My current gig trumpet is a Schilke S22; because of its rich brilliant sound; fellow musicians unanimously prefer the Schilke sound over the Strad. An S22 I tried at a local store was outwardly identical, but it didn't sound or play the same. The point is, every professional grade trumpet, even the same model, will be different in some way; sound, intonation, resistance, valves, etc.
Silver plated, Gold plated, or raw brass (unfinished) trumpets won't sound like a lacquered trumpet, since laquer is softer than metal and absorbs some vibrations. That doesn't mean one is "best"; just different. (Although silver plated horns are, by far, the most popular with the players I know.) Take the time to visit a store with a large variety of professional trumpet brands and models to try out, even if it means a long drive/trip. For example, the Washington Music Center in Weaton Md. carries most of the major brands; with many dozens of new trumpets in their band instrument department.
Consider asking another (good) trumpet player to tag along, so he/she can help you critique each horn. And, as good as Strads are, consider other professional brands, such as Schilke, Jupiter, etc...
